How do I book my school into the costumed schools program?

What will the two day program cost?
All the costs are clearly laid out in the costs section under visiting teachers information.

What age level is the program suitable for?
It is ideal for students in Year 5, but it can be adapted for other year levels. It fits beautifully in VELS at this level. A special one day program is available for Year 2 students.

What are the dress requirements?
The dress requirements are available for students in the visiting students section and adults in the visiting teachers section of this website.

What do I do about accommodation?
Accommodation is available at Sovereign Hill and also offsite. Details are available in the visiting teachers section.

What time does the school program operate?
The program starts at 9am and finishes at 3pm. Lunch is between 12 and 1pm.

How many adults can dress in costume?
We allow two adults from each school to dress in costume. However, teacher aides are also dressed in costume. Under special circumstances the Principal will negotiate with the costume department of Sovereign Hill to allow more to dress in costume.

Do the students need spending money?
The amount of spending money is at the discretion of the visiting schools. We prefer the students to bring spending money on day two of the program.

Should the students bring water bottles?
Plastic does not exist in our world of the 1850’s so we do not allow the students to use them. There are plenty of drinking taps available at all the schools and around the museum.
